First and foremost, it is important to understand what in-game interests players may have, their most common gaming preferences, and how they may interact.

The next stage is a story about seizing the initiative in the ancient world, a number of nations have a bonus in the form of special military units of this era and they need to be given a chance to prove themselves. Correctly placed objects on the map, in the form of positions convenient for defense, rich territories and cities of states, provide an incentive for active action from the very early stages of the game. However, their possession should not mean certain victory in the game. The initiative can be captured not only by military means, but also by economic and technological means, an early profitable campus or theater square can sometimes give even more than 1 other city. In practice, for players this should mean the ability to choose between more aggressive actions and an effective defensive strategy, supported by national and leadership bonuses.

The most interesting thing, however, begins in antiquity. During this conditional period of time, the player will be fully established in the direction of his development, let’s think about what it could be:
1. economic,
2. military,
3. scientific,
4. economic,
5. cultural.
Perhaps the most trivial option is to bet on the golden age of freethinking with the construction of commercial hubs, where the city center, the harbor and the center of commerce are adjacent to each other.
An option that had no alternative in the vanilla version of civilization is the capture of generals. They implement them to capture space, through direct conflict with another player or military intervention in the city state.
Laying down a good campus is like laying down a reliable vector for stable further development. Focus on scientific victory and scientific military technologies have always been a reliable strategy.
Only a few dare to enter the precarious path paved with sacred places. And we must admit that one religious person is not like the other. Faith can be used as a profitable economic resource, you can buy districts, troops, even buildings in the city center with it, but how to make it so that building sacred places is economically and technologically more profitable than anything else, you need to try.

While not everyone chose the religious path, only the chosen ones chose the cultural path. If you followed how the civilization community developed in terms of skill, you noticed that over time, the cultural area began to gain more and more popularity among experienced players. The point is its advantage in the early stages of the game, eliminating the lack of culture regarding science.
Of course, these are only the most general archetypes, but the options already voiced have a clear difference from each other and combinations unknown to me, they use different pantheons, governors, different terrain features and position themselves differently in the game. This is where all the splendor of our beloved strategy unfolds and this is what a good map should take into account, in as many details and geography as possible.
