Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall [Game Review]

Everything new is well forgotten old.
Today there is such a tendency that most people in games prefer entertainment and dynamism instead of thoughtful gameplay and plot. Thus, there is an advantage in the direction of simple, unstraining, completely on-rails, but beautiful Call of Duty, assassins and the like. Because of this, everything that was considered normal and ordinary in the golden years of the 80s is now a rarity and a curiosity (especially for people who are relatively new to the gaming industry).

And although I myself https://royal-house-casino.co.uk/mobile-app/ grew up playing games from the 80s and 90s, I was also always more attracted to beautiful pictures with special effects and an emphasis on action. Hence the bias towards turn-based games and the indie genre in general (thanks to the associations with pixel graphics). If you also belong to this type of people, don’t let yourself be deceived, because if you don’t try, you won’t know what’s so special about this or that wilds, where you couldn’t even think of going before.

I’ve never been so wrong before.
I got acquainted with this game by accident, as they say, in times of “lack of fish and cancer”. ». Overcoming myself in the first minutes because of the simplified visual component, then I became very interested in the dialogue part of the game and the plot. I couldn’t help but notice the elaboration of the universe, and the idea itself seemed very original to me – to mix cyberpunk and fantasy (I admit, in view of my ignorance, that this is not the first such setting). And here the most powerful video card in the world – imagination – started working.

This feeling is comparable to reading a book that is captivating and completely absorbing. You really stop paying attention to all sorts of conventions and become immersed in the atmosphere, imbued with the characters and the narrative. The combat also captivated me, not without the help of my own imagination – when you imagine all the action in real time, you imagine an expensive Hollywood blockbuster in front of the monitor. And let it sound pretentious and even a little ridiculous, but then it dawned on me what is the value of games of this genre.

The game is not for everyone.
Unfortunately, but it’s a fact – Shadowrun will not be such a revelation for everyone and will produce a similar impression effect. But it’s definitely worth a try – who knows, what if?
